The Swedish-Malta Co-production Shame on Dry Land, directed by Axel Petersen won a record 7 Guldbagge Awards at the annual event held on 15 January 2024.
Awarded annually since 1964, the Guldbagge (“Golden Beetle”) is the name of the Swedish Film Institute’s award for achievements during the previous year.
The Pellikola co-production, shot entirely in Malta in 2022, received awards for Best Director, Best Actor, Best Cinematographer, Best Sound Design, Best Original Score and Best Editing.
The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2023 and will be premiering in Malta in March 2024.
