Malta has been a member of the European Convention on Cinematographic Co-production since September 2001.

This membership allows Maltese companies to co-produce with partners from different European countries that are members to the convention, and not at the expense of the film’s national film status and corresponding incentives and facilities.

The Government of Malta is currently investing €1m per year in the co-production of feature films and documentaries that shoot partly in Malta. Pellikola is eligible to apply for financing through this fund.

Malta also holds co-production agreements with Canada and China.
