Malta has three main water tanks, which are unique in size and depth, and offer a natural sea horizon as its backdrop.

The tanks are marine studio stages where sets are built and shot with a range of devices, such as tie-downs and platforms. A vast array of SFX machinery – smoke, wind and wave machines, tip-tanks, water cannons and a 500 mph jet engine – is available at the tanks, allowing for the creation of the wildest storms.

The ingenious design of the Surface Water Tank, with its natural horizon, enables the water, sky and horizon to appear seamless, eliminating the need of a false backdrop.
